How Massage Therapy Improves Quality of Life

For people who lead sedentary lifestyles, massage therapy can be quite a revelation.  For many of these individuals, cardiovascular problems such as high blood pressure and high cholesterol may be the norm.  Massage therapy improves overall blood flow and vascular function, and promotes better circulation of oxygen, which can be priceless for them.  For athletes and fitness enthusiasts, improved circulation of blood and oxygen may aid them in the strenuous activities they perform, Caroline Sturken adds.

Massage therapy also provides much welcome pain relief, which is again a huge boost for people into sports or those who perform intense training on a regular basis.  However, this is also very useful for office workers who work hours on end sitting on a chair in front of a computer, whose backs and bodies are wracked with aches and pains almost 100 percent of the time.  Massage therapy is also highly recommended for seniors as it provides relief for joint pain.

Caroline Sturken also mentions that massage therapy has been known to help people with sleep issues find much-needed respite at night.  She notes that there have been numerous studies that have shown massage therapy being effective against sleep caused by stress, anxiety, and other mental health problems.
